Geography of Offshoring is Shifting, According to A.T. Kearney Study

Chicago (May 18, 2009)

Tunisia has been ranked 17th in matters of enterprises' relocation, according to the Global Services Location Index (GSLI), a report on the most competitive offshore destinations.

The report in question, the work of the American global management consulting firm A.T. Kearney, is the result of a synthetic analysis of 43 factors that revolve around financial attractiveness, availability of human resources and business environment.

The document lays a special emphasis on the balances of each county's offer and durability of the advantages it presents. Some three thousand foreign enterprises or of foreign participation are settled in Tunisia, a country that has heavily invested in promoting human resources, developing education and training sectors (7.5% of GDP), and reinforcing scientific research and innovation (1.25% of GDP). Tunisia is betting on raising the number of engineers from 4,000 currently to 7,000 by 2011-2012, through the creation of three new engineering institutes.

The country managed, by means of a set of reforms introduced on the legal, regulatory and institutional framework, to establish an advantageous business climate and it offers incentives to investment to attract foreign enterprises.
